How I Teach English to my Student

  As a primary school teacher, I usually teach my students English like this:

  With a basically lively class, I usually use a activity to begin my class, such as sing songs、TPR activities、role-play and so on. And I use these different ways to avoid making my class a bit boring for the students.

  The second step is revision; review the words and the sentences. The one method is that I put the cards together and then take away one of them and ask the pupils to guess what I have got on my flashcard by saying to the children:“Guess what I have got on my flashcard.”

  The third step is presentation. I also connect the teaching content with the daily life, teach the new knowledge on the basic of the knowledge which we have learnt. For example: the sentences“What’s this/that? It’s - - -”we have learnt, and this time we will learn some new animal words and a new sentence“How lovely!”. First, I take out a dog (Snoopy----- most of the students like it). I ask:“What’s this?” The students answer:“It’s a dog. Snoopy!”I say:“How lovely!” Then the students will know about the meaning. When the students can master the sentences, I will teach them the new words not without the sentences.

  The fourth step is practice or consolidation. I show them some pictures to work in groups, and then ask three or four groups to ask and answer. At this step we can also have a game or a competition.

  At the last step, I give them the homework, just like write the words and the sentences, collect the words they see in the daily life or other assignments.
